The appointments line is open 08:30 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 18:30 Monday to Friday. We offer appointments within 48 hours for those patients who need an urgent appointment (though this may not be with your preferred doctor) as well as advance appointments, which can be booked up to two weeks ahead.
In general, morning surgery is between 08:30 - 11:00 and evening surgery between 14:00 - 18:00. All consultations are by appointment. You can make an appointment to see any of the doctors or the practice nurses.
Surgeries are also held at our West Howe branch surgery each morning between 08:30 - 11:30 and afternoon surgery between 13:30 - 17:00. If you wish to have an appointment at the branch surgery please ring 01202 574604 and ask for an appointment at the West Howe surgery.
Urgent Appointments
Telephone 01202 574604
If you have an urgent problem you will normally be offered a telephone consultation with either the duty doctor or the Triage Nurse (many problems can be managed over the phone). If they feel you need to come down to the surgery to be examined you will be offered a same-day appointment. We may also offer you an appointment at the Urgent Treatment Centre at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Telephone Consultations
A number of five-minute telephone consultations with the doctors are available each day. These can be booked in advance. Just ask reception for a telephone consultation. If the doctor feels you need medication a prescription will sent to your choice of pharmacy.
Improved Access
We are working to improve access to appointments for our patients, in particular at evenings and weekends. If you would like to be offered one of these appointments, please ask. These appointments may be at a different site such as Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
You may also complete an E-Consult which is on our website above. This will be responded to within 24 hours.
Home Visits
Home visits are for patients who are too ill or infirm to attend surgery. Home visiting is extremely time consuming for the doctors - a doctor can see three patients or more in surgery in the time it takes to do one home visit, so please make every effort to attend surgery.
Visits are allocated to the doctors at 11.00 so please try to call before then if a visit is required.
The receptionist will need to take some details of the problem so that urgent visits can be arranged promptly.
A doctor, nurse or receptionist will phone you back before the visit as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.
House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.
Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
If you have a mobile phone and consent to receiving text reminders for appointments, you can also text to cancel your appointment by replying to your appointment reminder.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
